IPPL’s History
Since 1973, under the leadership of our founder, Dr. Shirley McGreal, IPPL has spent decades fighting to protect and save primates around the world. These significant efforts included fighting smugglers, exposing the fate of primates in research labs, establishing a gibbon sanctuary and much more.
How You Can Help
For decades IPPL has saved dozens of gibbons whose lives were often depressing, even horrifying if they were subjects in a research lab. By joining our adoption program you will help them continue to receive the compassionate care they deserve.
More than 60% of primate species around the world are threatened with extinction mainly due to human activities, such as habitat loss, hunting, illegal trade, climate change and disease.
Volunteering at IPPL is an opportunity with a unique perk as you will be serenaded by our gibbons singing while making a difference in the lives of these charismatic little apes.
